DAFNE Project

The Library System of Padua University is involved in the Italian DAFNE (District Architecture for Networked Editions) project.
DAFNE is a research project funded by Italian Ministry of Scientific Research and Education .
It aims to provide assistance to universities and academic associations for the development and dissemination of scholarly communication.
DAFNE involves five important Italian firm:

  • Ariadne (ICT),
  • Bassilichi (e-commerce),
  • Bibliografica (Publisher),
  • Parco Scientifico e tecnologico Galileo (ICT),
  • Casalini (Bookseller).
    The Scientific Committee of the project is composed by:
  • three Italian universities (Bologna, Firenze and Padova),
  • the Institute of Juridical Documentation of the National Research Council (IDG-CNR),
  • the Central National Library in Florence (BNCF),
  • and the Il Mulino Library.
    The objective of DAFNE is to set up a prototype of national infrastructure for the electronic publications (mainly serials).
    Technological and organizational aspects will be taken into account in order to disseminate the Italian publications (mainly in the field of human sciences) at international level.
